The Nihon Keizai Shimbun paper reported on Monday that five majorJapanese movie and anime companies are collaborating on acountermeasure initiative against domestic and overseas Internetpiracy. Through the Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA),the initiative will automatically search for videos that were submittedwithout authorization and demand that site administrators delete theunauthorized materials. The participating companies include TOHO,Studio Ghibli, and Sunrise, and the association is exploring thepossible future involvement of commercial broadcasters and recordcompanies.

The initiative will start with the monitoring of 10 to 15 works, suchas Ponyo and Mobile Suit Gundam 00, on major video-sharing websites inChina in the middle of November. Thereafter, the system will expand thenumber of sites it monitors to those outside China.

NHK News reported on Tuesday that over 38,000 Japanese-animated videosare distributed without authorization on the Internet every month. TheAssociation of Japanese Animations (AJA) and other participants beganthe month-long survey this past February. According to the survey,these unauthorized videos are seen about 69 million times.

CODA is a private umbrella group of 22 companies and 20 organizationsinvolved with content and copyrights in Japan. Its stated goal is "tostamp out piracy and promote the legal distribution of Japanesecontent, in particular in Asia."

게다가 요즘시대는 실시간 현지자막화를 요구하는 시대인데 일본애덜은 그닥 글로벌라이제이션에 부지런하지도 않으니... 게다가 요즘은 거의 DVD판매 광고용 취급인듯하니 방영하는 게 되려 서비스일지도....

I don't see this as a successful movement until Crunchyroll startsmaking their subbed anime available to everyone and not region locked,subbed Anime on iTunes within 48 hours of airing or making all thereleases of every anime and manga available to everyone around theworld, but I highly doubt that will ever happen...

The point is, if there is no viable legal alternative that consumersare willing to pay, I highly doubt that piracy will ever go away... andeven if you make it available at a price a consumer is willing to pay,the end of the day, piracy is still going to exist since you can'tcompletely stop it.


 이건 일본 애니뿐만 아니라 한국 드라마나 기타 프로그램 등에도 적용되는 사항인데, 파이러시의 만연 배경에는 상당한 수가 존재하지만 수익을 내기에는 불충분한 애매한 수의, 최소 2-3일 텀 이내로 월드와이드 릴리즈를 원하는 소비자의 존재인듯.

 플러스로 한국/대만 지역을 벗어나면 만화 정발도 안되는 게 많아서... 양웹에서는 만화도 많이 굴러다님;;;;

In Australia, we're usually two years behind on releases. At theminimum. 2007 series are still not fully released, there's a bucketloadof 2008 series that haven't been licensed locally. Series likeHigurashi have been blacklisted and will never get a local license.Which is why most of my friends don't buy the local releases thatMadman do and opt to get the American imports when they buy anime DVDs,because they're cheaper overall and better quality. As for what's shownon TV, SBS was showing 2-3 series a year a few years back - dubbed ofcourse, then they stopped. ABC2 has picked up the slack recently andplayed some decent titles, although they are also guilty of 'dubsonly'. No wonder Australia does nearly 20% of the world's torrentdownloading for anything.

외국은 좀 더 저작권 체계가 잘 잡혀 있어서 제도적으로 잘 활용하면 잘 될지 어떨지는 모르지만, 프리라이딩을 추구하는 마인드는 그닥 국내와 다를 것 같다는 생각은 안 듭니다(.......) 미국이야 초강력 벌금때리기로 규제하고 일본이야 전통적으로 외부적으로 뻘짓하면 소리소문없이 사회적 말살 시키는 동네다 보니 그렇고...
